“Can we live here?” This was the question I asked Aaron the entire weekend during our stay at Houston’s Four Season Hotel. I’ve read enough books and watch enough TV to know people actually do live in posh hotels. Can you image how incredible that would be? All I’d need is 3 bedrooms, a TV to watch my holidays movies and that magical land line telephone that buzzes whatever my heart desires. Heaven! Unfortunately, Aaron woke me up from that FSHouston dream with a “not going to happen.” So, until that day comes where I convince him on how we “need” to live at the FS, here are my 4 reasons for a Four Seasons Staycation.
Our Four Season Staycation
Top Golf
This is one of the ways I woo’ed Aaron into joining me for this Four Seasons staycation weekend. He’s a huge golfer. Part of my pitch to move into the FSHouson is to propose Top Golf practice everyday. See, he could get really good at golf and get in as much practice as he needs to be that professional golfer. I’m thinking about his future here.
Food
In a city where food is pretty much everything to us, Four Seasons doesn’t disappoint. During our stay we opted to get dinner at Bottle and Bayou while we played Top Golf. The main hotel restaurant was closed for a private event (be sure to look into that when you book your stay). With that said, we weren’t bothered by it. Bottle and Bayou’s food was just like being at a restaurant…not bar food. We ordered the charcuterie board (which was a lot and could feed 4 people, easily). For our “supper” we ordered chicken and a steak.
Ambiance
It’s hard to find a place to start. FSHouston just completed a multi million dollar renovation and it pays to see that alone! During our stay there were lots of beautiful Christmas decorations up. From a Christmas tree, to a giant red chair where Santa would sit, to a mailbox where your kids can drop pff their letters to Santa. When you first walk in the hotels front door you’re welcomed by a wonderful scent. I always love that experience. Depending on what time you arrive, you can either grab a coffee (one of the best I’ve found in Houston) or a cocktail. One thing Four Seasons is the best at…service. So, no matter what sort of drink you want, you’re sure to get it. They’ll go over and beyond to take care of you.
Spa
Out of all the 4 reasons for a Four Season Staycation, the spa one is my favorite. Both A and I are spa lovers and this treat didn’t disappoint. While I enjoyed the Tata Harper treatment, Aaron got an hour massage. My experience consisted of a body scrub and a mild oil massage. It was wonderful, to say the least. I could have gone for twice as long and then napped! The spa area also has a steam room and you get cozy robe with slippers. Makes sure you let them know rather you’d prefer small, medium or large in the slippers. All in all, the spa is wonderful and a must during your stay.
There you have it. My 4 reasons for a Four Seasons staycation.
My list could go on and on, like about the staff, the new decor, the Blvgari scent in the bathroom, the a/c (which is huge when staying somewhere and people forget to talk about). There’s clearly so much I loved about staying at the FSHouston. This was a perfect weekend getaway from the mundane routine we can often times get caught up in. Rather you’re from out of town and need a hotel or you’re needing a little time away form the hustle of life. A Four Seasons staycation is always a good idea in my book.
