Several years ago my sister and I took a 16 day trip to Paris. 24 hours later I was inthralled by the girls and their style. I recently came across the photos from our trip and it sparked the thought to share my top 5 tips to dress like the French girl. After that trip there was only one thing on my mind, “I want to dress just like every girl I saw strutting the streets.”
What exactly does it mean to dress like the french girl? well, it’s easy, effortless, classy and simple. The French women definitely isn’t into showing off the name brands. Her hair has a tousled, sexy look and one side is probably tucked behind her ears. Every piece of her wardrobe is exactly what I want in mine too.
Another piece that draws me in most to the french girl is you can guarantee her wardrobe is almost all black. Sure she may have a pop of yellow sweater or a red trench coat but the rest of her wardrobe…well is noir.

1: As très chic as smoking is in Paris I can’t recommend it. What I can recommend is grabbing a great blazer and pairing it with everything. This is your staple piece. If you can find one with a gold buttons then you’ve hit the jackpot.
2: Good flats. In Europe there are cobble stone streets everywhere. So rather you are a loafer kind of girl or a ballet flat lover you’ll want to invest in a good pair of plats. Roger Viviar has nailed comfortability while managing the fabulous look.
3. The Everything Blouse: We’ve all seen the episode when Carrie goes to Paris in season 6 of Sex and the City. Her french fashion was all the air I need to breath. All those dramatic blouses…oui. This is really your time to shine and go all out. Make a statement with your blouse if no where else.
4. Minimalist Jewelry: The French woman doesn’t have time to be bothered by the big, bulky pieces. Keep it dainty. Coco Chanel wouldn’t be caking on the layers. Be as understated as possible.
5. A Staple handbag. Polish off your style with a structured handbag. Pair it with your neutral or black and white outfit. Don’t be afraid to make a statement with it but don’t go over board. Take a peak of some perfect examples.
All in all you want to be yourself and wear what feels good to you.
