We titled this girls trip: Syd & Ash, The Mrs. Chicago Edition.
My stay at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, Illinois was so wonderful that it only felt right to share my experience with you. Our excitement was clearly shown on my Instastories but for those that missed it I’m recapping all the main points. I’m come up with 6 reasons to stay at Hotel Fairmont.
The main reason I headed to Chicago was to speak at the Poshfest event but it was my birthday on September 28th and my friend, Sydney decided to tag along. With both of our men out of town it made perfect sense to vacay together. This has been a big year for us both. I got married March 18th and Sydney is getting married November 18th.
Price
First point I must make about the Fairmont Hotel and before you can ask, it is affordable. I’m known to be picky about hotels and when you’ve had the best it’s hard to settle for anything less. With that said, I am all about saving money too! Room rates start as low as $135 (found though Travelocity) and I’m sure that is dependent on the time of year, as well as the size of room you need.
Room:
Turn down service is one of my favorite services a hotel can offer. Fairmont hotel hit all those extra touches to their turn down service with the following:
- music
- a bottle water with glass
- they pull the shades down
- mini tidy up (fresh towels, pull extra bedding off and set on the side)
Over all the rooms are exceptionally clean. The level of toiletries is incredible. I can’t rave about this special touch. Not only do you get a larger bottle but you are getting the highly loved brand Le Labo. The hotels scent of choice is Rose 31. I love this brand so much. It was the perfume I wore on my wedding day. I wore Le Labo, Santal 33.
For those looking to stay in Chicago for a period of time and need a full living space then the suite is a great option. You will have a full kitchen, living and dining area. What more could you ask for in a hotel stay?
Service:
The Fairmont Hotel front desk staff was also very helpful. Sydney forgot her toothbrush and they accommodated us by providing her with one. When we were looking to get reservations to Cindy’s (which is extremely difficult to get into), the concierge immediately called and was able to get us into the restaurant. Btw, Cindy’s is a great spot!
Food:
One morning Sydney and I decided to go to the lounge on the 15th floor for breakfast. This is set there for Gold member guests. It was just what I needed before heading to my Poshfest speaking engagement. The lounge is open from 6:00am-10:00pm on weekdays and 7:00am-10:00pm on weekends. They had any and all breakfast must-haves. There was a great variety of teas, juices and coffees. This is the perfect choice for those starving or for someone who just needs a little bite before starting the day. If you’re not a Gold member I highly suggest looking into it. You won’t go hungry…that’s for sure.
After breakfast, Gold members are given snacks throughout the day as well and lunch and evening snacks for those on the go.
Bar:
This is simple. If you like martinis then have Jessica (at the main bar in the lobby) make you one! She made our dirty martinis to perfection. Having a good bartender always makes a hotel stay a little better.
View:
We had an unparalleled view of Millennium Park and lake. Our suite faced south (incase you want this same view). Having a view of the Buckingham Fountain was a well received touch. Believe it or not, I’ve never seen the fountain in person before. Now I’ve seen in the most magical way.

At the Trump Hotel getting a 1/4 glass of wine with Sydney for $25!
All in all I loved the Fairmont. If you all have any questions or want to hear more about my stay please ask away!
There is a new Fairmont being built in Austin right now, it looks incredible!
