When I hear the word burgundy the first thought that pops into my mind is a good french wine. As much as I would love to sit here and talk about all my favorites, I’m covering a different burgundy. The burgundy fall basics I’m talking about are those classic must have pieces we all should have in our closets. Rather it’s a good pair of pants, a pleated skirt or an oversized sweater, I want to give you lots of ideas for staple pieces to have that will never go out of style.
The moment fall arrives, dark colors loom over us…literally because day light savings time has hit us. If you want a color in your closet that stands the test of time then maroon (or burgundy as I prefer to call it) it is. If you can find a metallic piece with maroon then it’s an bigger win. The goal here is to pop on something that has a wine color and you match the those fall leaves in Virginia. There is just something about those gold, maroon and burnt orange colors that pull me into the holiday spirit.
Burgundy, the best fall basics.
I got an early start when it came to stocking up on my wine colored basics. Remember back when I was in New York I bought that incredible Rebecca Minkoff blazer? The perfect staple piece and a must have in any closet. Yes, it’s a bit pricy but worth it since it will last season after season. Today’s off the shoulder top is a new find from the adorable online boutique call Pink Blush…they never seems to disappoint. Paired with my favorite brand of denim, AG and my classic (oh you’ve seen these before) Louboutin heels. Btw, are the only pair that haven’t killed my feet and therefore I will forever wear them
Last night I spent a little time online hunting for all the best burgundy fall basics and found myself ordering quite a few more staple pieces than I needed. Truth is, my closet needs a bit more color and now I know exactly where to start.
