As we dive deeper into fall, our skin care needs to adapt to the cold weather. The dry, chilly air causes skin to crack and conditions like eczema to flare up. My skin tends to dry out when the temperature drops so I switch to a heavier moisturizer during those colder months. Like putting on a heavier coat, I begin to layer up in my skin routine. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve talked on this topic. Since my skin care blog in 2019, I have discovered more products to battle the winter weather.
Below is my map to cold weather skin care!
Lipid Replenishment
Replenishing our skin lipids during colder months is so important because lipids are the natural fats that we need. Lipids protect our skin from the sun, hold in moisture and heal scrapes! My esthetician at SkinLab introduced me to SkinCeuticals’ Triple Lipid Restore and if you saw her skin, you’d be a believer!
Hydrating B5 Mask
Who doesn’t love a good face mask? Throw this hydrating mask on and watch your favorite tv show while it works its magic. The moisture complex helps bring balance to the water in your skin to give you a youthful look.
Refresh Mist
Refresh, Relax, Repeat. Dr Dennis has blessed us with this hydrating refreshing mist that prevents hyperpigmentation with the help of Vitamin C. The collagen also nourishes your skin and has you looking 10 years younger.
Ceramide Treatment Cream
If you look up winter time skin care, you’ll see the word ceramide all over your screen. Ceramides are lipids that make up your skin barrier. More ceramides = better moisture retention. Using a ceramide treatment will reduce wrinkles and fine lines!
Moisturizing Cream
Like I said, winter is the time to layer up. Putting on a generous layer of moisturizing cream is like putting on a cozy sweater, it protects you from the cold! This moisturizing cream lifts your face to make you look rejuvenated and revitalized.
Bio Serum
You’ve probably seen me use my bio oil on Instagram so you know how much I love it. This bio serum offers a heavier, replenishing factor for dry skin. The sodium hyaluronate ingredient improves your skin’s elasticity and locks in moisture, double win!
Creamy Eye Treatment
What I like about Kiehl’s is that it has a balance of herbal and pharmaceutical ingredients, so it feels clean on my skin. Cold weather can cause under eye bags and squinting. This creamy eye treatment brightens the eyes and prevents those evil crow’s feet.
Nourishing Hand Care Set
We use our hands all day to clean, shuffle paper and touch other drying surfaces. Daily activities dry out our hands so using these shea butter based hand lotions will save you from cracks and wrinkles. Plus they smell amazing!!
Body Scrub
I live by Osea’s body scrub! Believe it or not, a textured cleanser is exactly what your skin needs when it’s cold. A scrub removes the dead skin allowing moisture to soak in. I love using this because it makes my skin look and feel amazing. This scrub is a 10/10.
Silk Pillow Case
Not only do silk pillow cases benefit your hair, they also help your skin retain moisture. Cotton absorbs moisture so it is actually drawing moisture out of our skin while you sleep. Silk will help your skin to not dry out overnight.
