Today’s shoot took place in an adorable little park in Downtown Houston. You wouldn’t even guess that’s where I am. I wanted something fun yet sophisticated for this Flourish Boutique dress.

I fell in love with this Flourish dress the second I saw it. Why? I feel like it represents a perfect combo of winter and spring. The sequins on here are so detailed and elegant.

Yes, today I decided to wear my classic Louboutins, and I could probably throw a puffy coat on top to keep the winter theme going. But the neat thing is that I could easily wear this lightweight dress to the beach over a swimsuit. It’s that versatile. Isn’t that what clothing is all about?

You’ve seen this beautiful Shanaz handbag before. I thought it was just the right pop of color to go with the outfit, which is mostly nude and white colors. If you haven’t heard of Shanaz before, they’re based out of Houston and carry a nice little collection of handbags you can’t find anywhere else. Shanaz was also founded by a young woman entrepreneur straight out of college. Today you see a lot of the major fashion labels run by or named after men. Isn’t that strange? I mean, they’re mostly marketing to women, and the advertisements usually feature a skinny model of some sort.

Through my blogging adventures, I tend to gravitate towards strong, fashion-minded women who have created their own path to success. I naturally click with those kind of people, because that is exactly what I did for myself. I also think its important to support local businesses and creative people. Sure, I love my designer items, but knowing that no one else really knows about some of my favorite boutique finds is what makes them special.

Do you have your summer vacation plans yet? I have some of mine. Of course you all know about the wedding I’ll be attending in April. That explains why I am working my tail end off getting in shape. Summer also means one thing for the blog…swimwear!
