I was watching the news on New Year’s day and each one of the news anchors talked about how they were entering the new year with a new word. This word is supposed to represent goals, objective plans throughout the year and something that is positive you can work towards. I’m not really one to start a New Year’s resolution but I do love goals. So, this year I decided to not only set in stone my word of the year but to set small goals that are obtainable.
I’m entering 2019 with intention.
My word of the year is intention. This covers a multitude of ideas.
1. When posting, think each one through more thoroughly.
2. Be in the moment and present with full intention of paying attention.
3. Apply myself more with work with the intentions of XYZ goals.
4. Add any money saved into Navy’s account.
Goals
When it comes to setting a New Year’s resolution I’m eh about it. I do however love setting goals. So this year I decided to set small goals. One for each month of the year. Some months will be harder than others. Some months I don’t have an idea of what I’m gonna do yet. I’ll share what I’ve come up with so far for January, February and March.
January:
This month I want to spend as little as possible. I feel like if I do this then it will set a tone for the rest of the year. The last three months, not only did I spend money on Christmas, I also redid our living room and want to sit in the enjoyment of what I’ve created here at home with full intention. Most of the time when I walk away from something and think about whether to buy it or not, I tend to not go back and buy it. This is another smart way to not spend money. I have a feeling this is easier said than done. Maybe saying it out loud here will help me keep on track.
February:
This month I have two goals. The reason I set two is because one is more of a challenge and the other one is more of a necessity. For this month I want to cut back on my Starbucks spending. I don’t feel like there’s a reason to cut it completely out. So, I decided to only buy one drink during the week day and one on the weekend. Being that I get one almost every day this is pretty good.
The other goal for February is to completely clean out my closet. By this I mean any and everything I haven’t worn over the last year… needs to go. Even if I think I want it or may change my mind down the road… it goes! Swipe up here for my Poshmark! Ha ha.
March:
This month I’m going to require Aaron to join me. We decided to only go out to eat two times for the entire month. Hmm…maybe that should’ve been done in February when the month was shorter. We’ve actually cut back quite a bit since having a Baby Navy but it wouldn’t hurt to cut back a little more for one month. We tend to go big when we go out to eat! This money can be tucked away in Navy’s saving account.
That’s all I’ve done so far. I think the next month or two I’ll be able to come up with some more ideas to challenge myself. I do have some business goals that I’ve written down but wanted to definitely share my personal goals with you.
Are you someone that likes to make a New Year’s resolution or do you work better under goals?

Love the idea of monthly goals. May have to do this myself.
