You know how people say, “I never make New Year’s resolutions because I don’t keep them?” My approach to it is: Are you guys maybe not making New Year’s resolutions because you’re resigning yourselves to fail? So, to test this out as a little experiment for me, myself, and I, I decided to give myself a goal for 2018. That goal? To grow out my hair in an awesome but still super healthy way. Thanks to Hair Food. Let me explain.
Healthy hair is the best hair.
Number one in my #PlanOfAction was to consult a professional. My stylist, who I’ve been going to for years (the amazing Sergio at Ceron) advised me to make more frequent visits for hair treatments!
Honestly? One of the first things I’ve done to get the best hair so far has been to take out my extensions. I love having long hair, but I want to have my long hair. I want natural, and turns out, my hair wants natural, too. There is no losing!
Something Sergio helped me to realize was just how damaging it is to your hair to keep tying it up in ponytails. I hadn’t realized before he told me, just how bad it could be. Certainly not food for your hair! More like… super killer pesticide for your hair? The problem is, it’s just so easy to do, not to mention the heat that I’ve been using to style my hair. If I don’t want to do anything with my hair when I go out to get coffee on a morning, I just throw it up in a ponytail!
I also realized, though, that “throwing it up” was simply a bad part of a bad routine and for me to get the best hair, I would need to change it up for the hair’s nourishment as opposed to split ends, snapped hair, and kinks. (Ugh, I hate kinks!)
Food for your hair…it’s a real thing.
Finding the right shampoo and conditioner to keep my hair healthy and vital was a piece of cake. I mean, maybe if I didn’t have Sergio by my side or the Internet in the palm of my hand, it would have been harder. I am all about the idea that treating your hair well can strengthen it, which will make you feel better about yourself, and when you feel good about yourself, you can literally take over the world.
If we have to look at what we’re putting into our bodies to keep them healthy, it only makes sense we’d have to do the same for our hair, which is why I love the idea of food for your hair. To me, the line alone tells me exactly what I need to do to better my hair, just like I would my diet or my skincare routine.
Hair Food offers several collections, including: moisture (which is the one I use), volume and color protect.
Healthy points to Hair Food’s Moisture collection:
The Moisture collection provides my hair with luxurious moisture and nourishment,
exactly what I was look for! The shampoo has a rich lather and gently cleanses my scalp and the conditioner moisturizes my hair and helps project against future damage – winning! Both products are free of parabens and mineral oil, which I am passionate about as I want to ensure I am using the purest products I can. Hair Food’s Moisture collection is infused with honey essences – I love the smell!
My huge, crazy simple tip for the best hair is—and it’s totally, 100% down to my New Year’s resolution experiment I’m still holding myself two a couple months down the line, so feel free to hold me to it!—treat your hair like you want to be treated.

I’ve been using it for years, don’t get your hopes up it doesn’t do much other than make your hair smell good. Using it now to bath my furbaby.
