A few days ago I posted an inspirational Instagram post for you all. This year, I’m inviting you to share my journey towards health and fitness. I’ve always tried to keep up with my workouts and my diet, but lately I’ve been exploring new recipes and doing more intense workouts with my trainer Brandon. It’s paying off. Everyday I feel stronger and more motivated. I also get to eat lots of delicious food.
Whoever said getting fit meant starving yourself and eating things that taste like cardboard…well, yuck. That’s just not true. Your body is meant to eat a variety colorful foods rich in nutrients and flavor. I’m having a lot of fun with my Hi-Speed NutriBullet these days. Yes, I’m sure by now you’ve seen the NutriBullet infomercial a zillion times. Seriously, it mesmerizes me everytime I watch it. Do I need to learn how to make 40 different kinds of smoothies? Why, yes I do!
Smoothies are best for quick snacks or post-workout replenishment. They can be as calorie-full or lean as you’d like them to be. Personally, after an hour long workout session, I prefer protein-filled smoothies that will keep me full till dinner, and will balance my energy used. Here are two smoothie recipes depending on what your body needs. One is a protein shake, while the other is a way to get your greens in for the day!
Banana Protein Shake
1 banana
1 tbsp. peanut butter
1 cup milk (or other dairy substitute like almond, soy, or rice milk)
Ice cubes (optional for texture)
Sweet Green Detox Drink
1 cup chilled green tea
Cilantro (a small bunch)
1/2 c. kale or spinach (dark greens)
1/2 c. cucumber
1/2 c. pineapple
1 tsp. raw honey
Shaved, raw ginger
I found a Nutribullet on sale at Bloomingdales
While on my journey in California this week I found a great little juice bar on Balboa Island. Check out these juices too.
