By the time this post gets to you the Astros will have played (and hopefully won) game four in the 2017 playoffs. I’ve been dying to do a perfect game day outfit post since the playoffs started, Astros vs the Yankees. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if this would be well received or not. After going to game two with Aaron, Don and Shannon (Aaron’s best friend and wife) and having her ask me a million wardrobe questions, which I LOVED, I knew this post had to be written.
Truth is, I had planned on writing this late Monday night and have it out early Tuesday morning after the ‘Stros won game 3… buuuuut that didn’t happen. Now here we are, waiting for the fourth game to begin. Houston is hoping for the best.
Let’s play ball & dress up!
First question: Do you like to dress up or down when attending a game?
For me, my idea of the perfect game day outfit is to dress up. I’m not sure what inspires this in me but I’d rather be in a cute dress and wedges than shorts. Take my girl Peyton, from ‘Love n’ Labels‘ for example. Tuesday she did an adorable write up about what a game day outfits look like for her. She wore the cutest black faux leather leggings and made game day look a little nicer than shorts. I loved this. She however is not in Houston weather where we give leather is a big ‘yee haw outta here’ in October. Our humidity just doesn’t allow leather yet. However, as soon as true fall weather gets here I’m stealing this look.
When I think of game day I think comfy, yet making an adorable statement. Maybe you don’t have a team shirt then what about that metallic top to add a little sparkle to your wardrobe. Sweater dresses are also a huge deal right now. Whichever of these options you feel best in because you’ll definitely want to be comfortable. That’s key.

On the flip side, if your idea of a perfect game day outfit is to wear shorts with your team logo on it then there are several ways to do that… all while still being as cute as a button. Have you thought about wearing cowgirl boots with shorts? What about wearing over the knee boots with shorts? For cooler/colder days you can pair those high boots with skinny jeans.

How about sprucing up your outfit with a cute handbag that has your team’s logo on it? Dooney and Bourke has handbags in different styles and they are sure to be win!
Oh and speaking of cute. Leslie (the bff), got engaged Sunday at the Texans game all while wearing shorts, a Texan tee and boots. There you have it! You can have the most romantic day of your life and be in shorts and cowgirl boots.
At the end of the day it’s what’s most comfortable to you. You be you and who cares what anyone else thinks about your outfit.

I always do a cute version of a casual dress up when I go to games!! I am a total girly girl who loves sports, but don’t really dress “down” often (leggings are my dressing down:) so I always love making sports clothes into cute outfits!!
